The Democratic Party: Friend, Fox, or Foe

Lessons to Recall:

In 2008, The National Democratic Party made history with the election of the 1st African American President. The general feeling of goodwill and societal progression, characterizes the Party, at the time. Yet, the progressiveness of the Democratic Party, will act in a colluded wave with a political White American backlash, and the uncorking of bottled racial feeling to dismantle essential reforms in American Government, effectively rolling back the lessons and the progress of three decades, for snakeskin oil remedies and simple fixes of the Trump Era. Seven Years after the passage of President Obama's historic Affordable Care Act (2010), the United States Government under Republican leadership (115th US Congress) has and will effectively dismantle the program which insures millions of Americans with healthcare, in exchange for avaricious policies, backroom profits, and corporate and State bottom lines. All this is done, while the subscribing Republican voter population is declining and the Democratic Party has lost position in power, at their most popular and successful moment. How?

In 2010, two years after President Obama's historic election victory, Democrats, who held a majority in the United States Congress House of Representatives and Senate, by winning the progressive narrative against the government failures of President George W. Bush, lost their majority in the House. The Supreme Court, acting more like a puppet under the influence of an ominous Master, and not like an independent branch of government, passed the Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission decision. This case effectively bankrolled American politics with unlimited amounts of cash from anonymous donors. The chief beneficiaries would be the Republican Party, and any Democrat willing to play by the rules of "Money Politics."The heavy corporate influx of money into politics helped the emergence of the Tea Party, along with their 'anti-Obama,' agenda. The Tea Party agenda, will effectively halt and change the direction of the American Government, providing a roadblock to every progressive reform introduced by President Obama. Republican Senator Mitch McConnell will go out of his way to say, "No," to every policy of President Obama and has been equally as successful in erasing that historical stance from the historical records.

Now, in such a progressive climate among "identifiable obstructionists," to the agenda of the President, how did the Democratic Party manage to lose majorities in both the House and Senate? This question surely baffles the ordinary voter, who paid close attention and counted the successes of Obama Era deals. The economic stimulus of President Barack Obama, effectively reversed the worst US financial crisis since the Great Depression, in 2008. The Dodd Frank Wall Street Act returned regulation to Wall Street after the Derivatives markets threatened the entire US economy with collapse. The American Recovery Act and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," Repeal Act, cemented the 111th US Congress, as the most productive Congress since the era of Lyndon Johnson. The American moral majority, catapulted President Barack Obama through his legitimate and partial critics, into a 2nd term with enough votes over Mitt Romney to declare a legislative mandate. Mitt Romney, then the richest candidate to run for President, suffered from his statement about the bottom 47% of the US population, whom Romney categorized as part of the welfare state (Mitt Romney 2012). The video that allied Republican supporters, rich donors, and their politicians created not only a national backlash against their spurious monetary and partial policies, but finally exposed the trickle down economics theory, and the players who continue to endorse this form of governance such as the Koch Brothers. However, in the Presidential Election of 2012, The Democratic Party, even at the height of their national popularity on the coattails of the re-election of President Barack Obama, lost more seats in the US House of Representatives, and barely held a majority in the US Senate.

The Democratic Party was increasing in popularity, increasing in voter registrations among Hispanics, African Americans, and younger voters. In comparison, The National Republican Party had a shrinking voter base (Washington Post 2014), relying primarily on White Americans to fill their votes in a multi racial country. In spite of these developments, President Obama would continue to progressive reforms including, the confirmations of Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan to the US Supreme Court, attempting to end American presence in Afghanistan, The Dream Act, and US criminal justice reform. At every turn, his Republican critics and Corporate opponents sought not only to prevent reform, but to roll back the progressive agenda financed by Big Money interests. With this background of the popular moral majority and stunning election losses by The Democratic Party (Successor of Teddy Kennedy), the election of the Republican candidate, Donald Trump over Hilary Clinton, the Democratic challenger should not be a surprise. For many, it was not.

Although, Republican voter rolls are in decline among the growing population, Democrats are somehow losing in all the major election contests. So much so, one might be inclined to say, The National Democratic Party is in collusion with the current American agenda. Is it so far fetched, that the Party that espouses such liberal and moral values, is a pawn in the American Empire? Let us remember, the Democratic Party is the same Party which fought for the rights of Slave Owners to keep their property. And through eloquent speeches denounced Reconstruction, eventually composing a deal which would make African Americans second-class citizens in the United States. This is the political party, which ignored the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendment for 100 years. Then, gave African Americans the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Act of 1965. Is it possible that the Democratic Party is both friend and foe? The answer is historically affirmative. So then, why is "this Black America" loyally allied with such a friend, given recent developments?

The Answer:
Blacks must end the 150 years of political hesitation and create their own political party responsible for their Black constituents. This party is not in opposition to the United States government, but a long forgotten maturation of the African American population, oftentimes seen as a threat to National Security. In order for the economic, social, academic, intellectual, artistic, and political protection of African Americans, they must create their own Nationally Unified Political Party. Now, this notion surprisingly alerts the Secretary of Defense, The FBI and CIA, but it should not. The why, is most revealing. Last, the National Democratic Party is a powerful friend, an historical enemy, and governing pawn in the American Empire.
