The American Mastodon

All Rights Reserved The American Mastodon State Museum

Writer and editor Peter Commons and I have wrestled with the idea to begin our very own hard hitting magazine. Our first struggle was a name. The Dancing Elephant, or The Flying Pig Publication. Maybe we can keep it simple, The Black Magazine. All were too vague, overused and too limiting for the purpose of our idea. The American Mastodon... A Mastodon? Totally, a Mastodon... 100% American and 100% extinct. The name captures the exact intention of our writings to write hard hitting, informative articles for a dying breed.

What Now?
Literary Agents, Publishers, Artists, Printers, Marketers, Promoters, distributors, advertisers, sponsors, Sales point, pricing, Trucks, Cars, Buildings, Stores, bookstores, grocery stores, news stands, libraries, Tours, Radio, Networks, Supporters and you! The American Mastodon begins as an idea then is birthed by a variety of essential players, everyone, equally important for their contribution. Everyone benefiting from the knowledge of work we present quarterly. Our goal is to deliver a popular discourse for the young intellectual to the professional, regardless of racial, gender, or sexual background. What we are doing now, is helping to not only provide insight and ideas, but differing perspectives to help shape the insight and ideas of this generation, and generations to come.

How To Help?
Some people say anyone can start a magazine. There is truth in the statement, but what makes a successful magazine is the mission founded on principle, perspective, and determination. Those things cannot be readily built to achieve, imitated, or replicated. Some people call it fate, others timing... We call it a need for artists, graphic designers, writers, reporters, and people to donate to get this project off the ground. With a core team, we hope to mold The American Mastodon into first a local, then nationally and internationally respected publication. Send in your ideas, donations, and artwork to PeterLCommons@gmail.com or donate directly here. We'd love to collaborate to get this off the ground. Thanks for all the support. We hope to here from you not just in word but in coin to show you really support this project!
